Hello All,

Thinking of taking the plunge and getting a water/wader machine. I currently have a Minelab XS and Fisher F-75.

Any and all opinions appreciated.

I agree that the Excalibur would be a great first water detector, I know cause I bought one myself and haven't regretted it. If the price tag is too high, try looking onto Detector Pro they have a great line of detectors that are first rate. The only thing is if you plan on doing more that wading than look into something like Garrett or Tesoro and Fisher. But for the money the Minelab Excalibur ll is hard to beat.

Be more specific Do you want to hunt fresh water or salt, salt water with black sand, or clean sand like Fla.? If you want to use it in fresh water any good vlf will work well, the Tiger Shark is good water detector and a lot less money than a exal......... Salt water, an Excal., IMO is the best vlf . I would not try to use a Tiger Shark on the west coast, because of the iron black sand, If you want a DEEP detector get a PI but only for salt water. Most fresh water beaches are too trashy for a PI

I'd post want adds on the forums looking. I got an in the box new Excalibur 1000 new for $800 with Minelabs full warranty after a week trolling the different web forums.

I use a wader -feashwater beaches no problem in or out of water and goes just as deep as others-just not so deep into your pocket

Where is the Excalibur actually made? Thanks.

Best regards,
Steve

One for every ocasion in fresh water WADER , BHID and for those deep one the PI PRO:thumbup:

Infinium LS! :buds:

Both work well in salt or fresh water, extreme depth and both love Gold & Silver.

Good Luck with what-ever you decide on!

The best you can afford............

That is a small sentence but PACKED with wisdom. You do get what you pay for and when you get into the upper stratosphere of waterproof machines it comes down to a good PI (Infinium,Dual Field etc.) or a good Multi-Freq. machine like an Excalibur.

The Excal 2 is the way to go it finds on land, it finds in the wet sand (even on the bank) and of coarse the water freash or salt . It goes deep , gives you good intell, and if i could cook and sew it would make a a great wife. This was some of my first year finds , and i am having a better second year. I think my good forture is largely do to the quality machine i swing. Hope this helps you make the right chose.
