I would like to hear your thoughts on how it performs like depth and stability. I read the review at Lost Treasure site but would like to hear from an average Joe like me. I hunt in mild soil for old and new coins. Thanks for any replies.

Hi bought one bout a mon ago /I'm still open to the discussion/ yes it is a little unsteady but I sent mine to be updateded and coverted to a xtPro from a QII / / should be in tomorrow I'll retest it. I like the unit and I did find a quarter and beside that I picked up a tone to find a small silver clasp from a necklace (no necklace though) 3" away in a sandy area . I am going to put this unit thur it's paces let me know if you have one or how your doing with that MD to compare notes. dig-on gottit

I don't have one but they have caught my attention. They have some nice features and used ones go pretty cheap. Not to mention Made in the U.S.A. Please post your thoughts on it after you use it for awhile. I haven't seen any posts about the Quantum series. I have read some good reviews on them at the Metal Detector Reviews site.
Oh ya, whats the difference between the Q2 and the XT Pro?

We never got the XT Pro in the U.K. I assume as sales were not to good on the rest of the Quantum range.
The Quantum XT worked really well where I lived at the time but there were people in other parts of the country who just could not get good performance.
I should try and find out if your ground would suit as it must have been a mineralisation problem. XLT's, Classic's, MXT etc seem to work well anywhere.
I think the II only has three pre set programmes and the XT four, might be wrong. The big advantage of the XT and why that is the one to buy is the noise reduction filter which can be switched off to really improve the performance on many sites.

XT pro has a 9.5" coil QII has a 8" one The xt pro has more programs as well as more adjustments. Now if you get the QII and you more to upgrade the software you can send it to a wht service center and have that software put on that unit. I recieved mine back today with the new program (chip) it fired up great and man the no. of programs is a lot diff. If you want to see the diff in the 2 ck out white and look at the manuals.

I have had one since they were introduced great for beach hunting but I find it too sensitive for normal park or school yard hunting. I have just received a Garrett groundhog off Ebay and I am going back to it The first one i had was in 1977 and I wore it out ..Many,many rings, coins and relics. The quantum 2 has been more work than it was worth very seldom anything of interest because of its picking up so much trash. The display shows what it could be and often is wrong.
:0} Now watch for a ad soon to appear for a White's Quantrum 2 soon to follow ..........

I paid shipping to the factory and $54 to get my Quantum II converted to a Quantum XT, including new side labels, LCD Screen Cover and New Arm Cuff. Very reasonable.
