I have a GPX 5000 that I use for gold hounding in the hills but have not tried It in wet/dry sand , what can I expect, bobby pins @ 2ft ? Is it over kill ?

Just don't get it wet! I have never tried one but if you do try it would you give us a report on how it works? I know I and a few people are curious about this.

Yea I'll give a detailed report, big storm heading to Nor Ca on fri, I'll try to get out when it blows over.

Calibil, the storm coming in here to CA friday, will be precipitation only. No swells/surf accompanying it :(

I've seen a guy trying to use a nugget machine on the beach. It can be done, and the results will mimic what can be done with various beach pulse machines: staples, bobby-pins, etc... at insane depths. So basically, I guess, wherever you could use a beach pulse machine (beaches devoid enough of nuisance iron, that you can do without disc.), then yeah, I guess they'd work. But as with any machine that packs that much sensivity, they almost become "too squirelly" to use. And I don't just mean "depth" (because who can argue with more depth?), but just the insanity of having metal flakes the size of pinheads give ear-blowing signals (not even a beach pulse is THAT sensitive).

I'll set a bobby pin limit, maybe 20 max and misc junk, any way it's got to be a little easier than digging nails @ 2FT IN HARD rock soil
