Any one out there using the M-6, not hearing much feedback!

Frank I (as you know )have a M6 I have not been able to get out with it as much as I was hoping. But what little I have I have been impressed. It's sensitivity to small targets and the depth is excellent. It is as easy as it gets to setup and start detecting.I am surprised that we have not heard more about it.I know there are some using it.
Stay dry

I've been using it for maybe a month now, probably logged around 25 hours on it, and I am also impressed. It's extremely sensitive to small objects. I've found some crazy small doodads that were pretty deep - I'm saying 6-8 inches and these things were freakin the size of a large BB.

Found several rings already, although no gold ones yet. Lots of clad. I need to get out some more to use this baby and hit some older sites to see how it does with finding some old coins.

The sites I have hunted have yielded some wheaties so maybe there's still some silver to be found there - ya never know.

I'm out tomorrow morning to try it again.

I really like the turn on and go aspect of it. I've paired it with a 5.3 coil and it runs really smooth.

Hey Frank, I have the M6 and one of the best coin hunters I have ever had. I have also found several rings but no gold. But, the main places I hunt are older and most of the people that went there back when, were very poor. So, the lack of gold doesn't surprise me. Have found several junk rings, and silver rings and a lot of all kinds of coins including silver. I have hunted with the M6 and the MXT. I feel the M6 has the edge on the MXT for coins with the MXT in coin mode. But, the MXT will go deeper than the M6 if you switch to relic mode. Most of the places I go also are very, very trashy. So, I use the 4.5 X 7 Excelerator coil on mine almost all the time. I have found pennies at 8 inches with the small coil. The depth reading is off as compared to the stock coil. But, it will pick coins right out with trash in the same hole and you will get reading on both items, Just by changing sweep directions. I don't beach hunt considering I live 600 miles from the ocean. But, for coin & jewelry hunt. I highly recommend the M6. Great machine and I do not think it has the reputation that it deserves.

Been using the M6 for about 3 months and I find it top notch. I have found more gold since I've been using the M6 these past 3 months than I have found the previous 5 years detecting. Its also a great coin machine and is just as good on silver as it is on gold. HH

Below is a quick review I posted a while back on the M6 and how it performed for me after I got it.

I got in my new M6 machine, put it together, and did some quick air testing. There was a minor fix that needed to be done. The discriminator knob was off by a notch forward. I pulled it off and rolled it back one notch so that the nickels would drop out at nickel instead of past the nickel mark on the dial. Now the dial is right on the money at the nickel & coin markings.

I took the M6 out to an old oilfield lease house sight from the early 1900's. The homes are gone and there is a ton of iron trash in the ground.

I have to say the detector did a fine job over all. Every bit as good as other units I have had or used in this area; including the XLT, DFX, and the MXT (the unit was nowhere as noisy as the MXT in the iron trash, which was the only dislike I had with the MXT). I found the trick was to ground balance in a good area then lock the track toggle, this kept the chatter down from the iron trash. There was a noticeable difference between auto ground tracking and the locked in tracking position in the iron trash. Every now and then I would lift the coil to waist height and toggle the pin point on, then place the coil above the ground and pump the coil to check balance, no problems in this area of function.

I used the 6x10DD and the 5.3 coil, they both did well. The DD was a little quieter in the iron trash. The detector ID'd well only being fooled by a few flat iron washers or larger pieces of decomposing iron. It also ID'd a zinc as a screw cap once and most of the old pop tops Id'd as penny/dime if they were flat, but they had a slightly different sound to them and the ID bar would only fill in half way most all of the time even though it locked penny/dime. On a good penny or dime the ID bar would fill in all the way with a good lock.

I feel the detector discriminates in iron trash well and will be a great coin machine with good solid depth.

My finds included: a 1917 wheat, an old brass tool tag from the 1950's, a 1965 quarter, an old Milk of Magnesia toothpaste tin tube with a metal lid, and the regular modern clad items.

Take care,

Love Mine!! Only have about 6 hours on it though. Love the simplicity of it. Goes plenty deep. Waiting to get my 4 x6 dd coil.

I just got my M6 yesterday, but only got my first chance to check it out today. I realize this sounds like one of the stories you read in the treasure magazines but within an hour of turning the machine on for the first time, I already had my first gold ring - a 14K man's wedding band.

Although I can't give lots of info on the strengths and weaknesses of this machine, I can tell you one thing for sure - I'm going to enjoy learning this machine! It's been a delight thus far. I'm really loving the light weight, tone ID and the dead-on accurate pinpointing. I'll be looking forward to comments on this forum from people with more experience.

Thanks!
