well i took the plunge and got a good deal on it got him down to $55.00 so we'll see what happens? hey bill does that 10.5" pick up coins ok to or does it struggle with that coil?
amcjavelin, i had the 11" solid coil for my 1266 and it was a great coil for hunting in taller grass and weeds because the extra weight made it glide through the grass where the 8 inch spider coil seemed to hang up in the grass and took alot more effort to swing it. it pinpointed well and was very deep for coins. just a very good all around coil. highly recommend it for large fields.......roger
amcjavelin, that coil might have to be drilled out to fit your 1236. if it came off a 1265 i think it had the smaller metal screw that holds the coil on instead of the 1/4" nylon screw.
my 11" coil was from a 1265 and it had the smaller holes in it but just takes a second to modify it to work on your 1236. you got a good price on that coil and you will like it if you hunt some wide open areas where you need good coverage..........roger
ps.... gonna get my new 1236 shipped out today and hope to have it by monday or so!
hey joe the day i went out and hunted the ground was still froze below 3" so anything that i found was only surface digs but the disc mode works better on the ground than air testing which was encouraging and i leave the silencer right off run full sens right to the threshold if you can and run the disc mode about 5 you still get to keep the nickel but pull tabs come in with it to but iron and junk there's no mistake the chirps and pops tell you for sure and spits to and when you come across coin its smooth as glass, another thing about the silencer is i noticed you lose almost a inch of depth if you run that mode, your almost better off to run full disc and only lose a 1/2" of depth which really suprised me most other machines you would really lose the depth for sure, when you run this machine i find it easier to understand to run than the tesoro's a little bit, headphones will be key with this machine i beleive, can't wait to try the big coil, the one thing i don't like about his machine is the battery covers and design, make sure there either energizer or durracel or something of equivalent to cheapo that come wit hit swell up for sure and its miserable to get'em out, just a shame they stopped making this!
ive' air tested and the things it will go deep on stuff about the size of a silver dollar will air test 17"and regular quarters about 12" dimes about the same as the stock 8" and like you said got to drill it out to on the unit
you will like the 11" coil for hunting big areas. it goes deep and if you are hunting in grass or weeds it will glide through much easier than the spider coil will. i found some deep coins with that coil on my 1266. it sounds like you are getting some great depths air testing with that 1236. did you ever locate a 5" coil yet? i'll keep an eye open for one for you.
it shouldn't be too hard to find one...............roger
