The 8in Ditech Concentric is a good coil. The problem I had with it was that it would not work well with a meter and S-1 probe connected to my GT. It just would not hold a good threshold and I also had to reduce the volume to get it to work properly. , I reported this in a post on this forum. I shortened the coil cable and use it without meter and probe and everything works with normal SOV response... The tones are good and it gets good depth and best of all good target separation. Much better than the 10in DD stock. The Ditech 5 in coil is also good in that regard but I felt that I was giving up to much depth to get good separation. I have pretty much replaced my 10 in stock DD coil with the Concentric for beach hunting because I can move really fast with it and still pick up targets at depth... . Don

(Ed - how do you like the little 5 in coil??.)

No I have never tried one.

I have the tornado 10inch and the tornado 8inch, I also went out and bought a sunray 8 inch having been told it was better for target separation,

I did not find this to be the case.

I now want a concentric 8 inch, but want a quality coil, the detech is a little on the cheap side,
whats more, if it does not work very well with the meter or probe it would indecate that It has not been thurerly tested

Must admit I haven't seen a 'Ferret' in a long time...think Kelly Co sold them.
In any case it seems a little iffy buying any third party GT coil at the moment as there must have been some not so obvious change made from the previous models as some of the best older Sovereign third party coils seem to have problems on the GT in certain detecting conditions. I recently tried my 12" Sunray and 14" Detech Penetrator on a GT and the machine didn't perform as well as on my old XS-2.
With what you have spent on extra coils/equipment you could have bought a good second hand XP or similar which would better suit the location of small hammered on iron infested U.K. sites and kept the stock GT for open pasture/beach sites.
