I have just started using the Musketeer Advantage and I am liking it so far. It is a different type of instrument for sure! It is a sensitive little buger! Ok just wondereing and happy hunting to all. God Bless.

My favorite detector. It's worked excellent in every hunting situation I've thrown at it including some nasty black sand beaches here on the west coast. It's also the best detector I've used for hunting iron infested sites. You can swing it fast or slow and it's very sensitive to small gold rings for being a low freq. detector. Depth in my ground matches and in some cases is slightly deeper than my CZ-70 Pro. I use the 7 1/4 inch coil for deep woods relic hunting and the 10 inch for most beach hunting and if things get real bad a 5 inch EXcelerator coil also. I have mine mounted on a Whites straight shaft which balances very nice but use it hip mounted most of the time. I have other detectors as well but can't say enough good things about the Musky.

Hi Mike and thank you for the response. I will tend to agree with you Mike. I am quite surprised at the performance of the Musky. It is a very deep seeker and has the sensitivity to find very small items while being a touted relic machine. I was also looking at maybe a different mounting scheme to help with weight. I have the 10" model and like the ability of a fast recovery machine. I feel I can cover some ground with this one. I would have to say Minelab has a secret weapon in the Musky, Mike. Ok thanks and I guess there isn't enough interest in the Musky to have a seperate forum here for it. Ok Mike God Bless and will CU later.

I've had mine since July of '03 and it continues to please and impress me. I have both the 8" and 10" coils, but use the 8" 95% of the time. Much easier to pinpoint in the trashy areas I hunt (I don't switch to pinpoint mode - just sweep in "X's" until I have it narrowed down).

Currently posturing towards a Sov GT to supplement the Musky.

Hi John,

The Musky is an excellent detector, just doesn't have the all the options but goes deep and has excellent discrimination qualities. The best thing i like about the Advantage is the ability to handle bad ground, especially iron infested and hunted a site this weekend where my Whites M6 went berserk and the Sov GT nulled way too much unless i went so slow i could watch the grass grow as the threshold reset in auto sens. You will find the Musky can cover a lot of ground and feel confident you didn't miss any more than higher priced detectors miss if setup correctly.

At sites infested with all the modern trash it may not be the most fun to use but with a 5" excelerator coil you can play with discrimination and cherypick or listen for the smooth softer tone and pick up a few goodies. Not knocking the GT as i am liking it more at modern trashed sites where older finds can be had due to the excellent tone id and listen for the softer tones, meaning deeper. Glad to see you got the chance to use a Musky. HH Bill

Well hello Bill, Yep I already have taken a liking to the Musketeer and it is definitly one of the detectors I carry everywhere with me. That smooth mellow tone is great to hear when you get in on a good target. I'm glad I have tried the Musky Bill and thanks for perking up my interest enough to give it a go. I appreciate the responses from everyone here also. I will be chatting to you again soon Bill. By the way the GT is a cool instrument too and the tones are great.
