Any musket experts out there

Can anybody help me with info/date on this dragon/serpent piece, I know its a musket part because of other pieces I found with it. its brass and about 6 3/4 inches long.

Nice were you relic hunting?Thats a beautiful find in anybodies book.I would go over that spot again with a finetooth comb.:clapping:
 
Thanks, yes I was relic hunting, I live in alaska and we dont really have many old sites compared to most of our states. I plan on going back and reworking with my new MXT, Im sure I missed alot with my old detector (6000 DI coinmaster).
 
I quess we are neighbors then, I am also on the kenai (soldotna). Have you been out and tried your MXT yet.
 
I also live in Soldotna. K-beach to be exact. I have been out alot lately. Found a ring yesterday. I am going to post my finds as soon as I get a good pic. and figure out how to post.
