Any Meteorite hunters here? does this look like one?

Found this yesterday at a closed down golf course. I was using an F2 but I actually found the Meteorite with the Pro-pointer.
In the picture its looks to be more round than it really is, if you roll it over the other side is more stony looking.
And yes it sticks to a magnet!

Many colleges have the testing abilities as they teach courses relative this subject and could surely help..From what I understand they come in different colors , sizes and the like and yes some are worth bucks so try to find a college in your area to be sure..Wouldn't get your hopes up as many rocks and such mimic them but personally if in your shoes would like to know...

Not that it will be a lot of help but if your just wanting to look at some other meteorites they have a bunch of sale on ebay

That's interesting--let us know what you find out.-----I know a gold hunter in AZ that found three small meteorites in a short period of time.----They are out there somewhere! :)

Thanks for all the replies!

Here is some more pictures of it. What makes me think its a meteorite is it looks to have,
An iron core,
A little bullet shaped on the exposed iron end,
A stony rock shell that looks to be burnt off from the iron core,
The rocky part also looks charred on one side,

Anyway I thought I would add these pictures in case some meteorite hunter finds this topic. I am thinking about contacting the local college and see if they can verify it for me.

Your rock does look like a meteorite, but are those little holes in its surface? Meteorites never have little holes on their surface, they are also almost always heavy for their size. Many are made of iron and stone and are magnetic like yours. There are quite a few meteorite identity sites on the internet. Good luck!

Well, for its size it is pretty heavy!
Holes? really more like pores, the pictures were shot through a 10X magnification.
Below is some really high powered pictures and one with it laying on a ruler so you can get a better judge of its size.

When I looked at the first photos...I thought you might have one. But after looking at the closeups, I don't think so. As Mtnmn stated, meteorites don't have holes(tiny pits).

However, I'm still learning meteorite identification. Keep asking.

Good Luck!

It looks to me to be a small piece of slag - a byproduct of impurities produced during the smelting process of iron ore.

Yeppp we got tons here. Bethlehem made the steel for the Golden Gate here in old Pottstown...

Slag all over the place...Apparently someone thought of using it for road grit in the winters...
