Howdy--

I picked this marble up at an old homesight this past weekend. Please forgive the quality of the scan but it is a clear green glass marble about an inch and a quarter in diameter. It does have several tiney air bubbles in it. Any ideas about the maker or age? Thanks.

Thanks, ojm bc. Over the years I've dug or picked up several jars full of old marbles. It's good to know that they have some value. Thanks and...

Some glass marbles were not toys but were made as weights for curtains and sashesf .. Next time you shoot something close use the macro setting on your camera for more depth of field.. Nice marble... I've lost miine

Howdy Edjcox--

I have the same problem - that's why I collect as many as I can hahahha.

Thanks for the info. I didn't know about them being used as weights. This one sure does have some weight: 54 grams!

Ant, you nailed it!! The link that you provided had a photo of a couple railroad marbles and the description confirmed its identity. I found this green, 1.25" RR Marble about a quarter of a mile from RR tracks in Texas. I do appreciate your help! Many thanks and...

On the sides of most old R/R tracks you can find them, around loading and shipping areas you will find more, but most are clear. Back in the olden days we would also find bent pieces of banding strap along the tracks that we made whistles out of.
