Any Legacy 3500 Users on this forum?

If there is anyone else on this forum who uses a Legacy 3500, I'd like to hear from you and compare notes.
Walt

Yep! I use the Legacy 3500.....:wiggle:.....NOW!!!

Right on Frank! It finally arrived. HH.

It arrived today. I posted my first finds earlier in this forum.

It is dead on! Pennies were pennies....6 inches deep was 6 inches deep.
Whatever it showed, however deep it showed, was EXACTLY what and where it was.

One day's use doesn't make it perfect forever, but for one day it has been perfect!!
Reading the manual beforehand was a great idea Walt. It made ground balancing simple.

My first find was a ring in my backyard!! The ring is a junker, but a ring is a ring, right? :clapping: It was about 6 inches deep. I had run over that part of the yard with my Tracker IV numerous times without a signal.

HH y'all.

Frank,
I took my Legacy 3500 out for a short 2 hour hunt before work today. I used all metal mode (no discrimination). Found out that by using discrimination in my earlier hunts that I was missing lots of Canadian coins like Quarters. I think that the alloys they use in them makes them ring in the iron ranges as low as 4 - 5 range in conductivity. This will definately make me miss them while saltwater beach hunting when I have to discriminate out the black sand in the wet sand. Anyway I found 1 Canadian quarter, 1 US nickel, 1 copper US cent, and 1 US zinc cent. It's still really bad digging because of the swampy ground. HH.

Walt,

I'm still playing around in the yard learning mine. Man! I have missed all kinds of coins with the Tracker IV!!! I too have been doing a lot of all metal mode.

In 2 days I have found 41 coins: 3 quarters, 3 dimes, 2 nickels, 33 pennies - two of these are wheaties.....too corroded to find the dates but the wheat back is plain to see on both. One is a 194? but no date visible on the other one.

I'm having a little trouble trusting the "Dime" readings. Solid dime ringings for the most part have been crushed aluminum cans. I have found 1 dime per day, but I have also found a lot of aluminum in that time, too. I will do more testing to get confident with those readings in the very near future. Quarters and pennies are RIGHT ON!! The nickels are running about 90% nickels to 10% pull tabs. Of course a lot of that success has to do with me hunting my yard....I know where the aluminum should be located.......

Showed the unit to my neighbor and he is ordering his tomorrow. Convinced him to get a pin pointer too.

The next few days will be hectic and busy for me. Our son and daughter in law will be having their baby either tonight, tomorrow or Friday. Most likely will be inducing labor tomorrow or Friday.

Hope you can get out and enjoy the weather and some more hunting.

HH y'all.

Frank,
Unfortunately aluminum cans and pull tabs will always be the biggest pain in the --- as far as giving false readings. And it doesn't matter which detector you have. You'll also find that sometimes a soda or beer bottle cap will sound off as a quarter. My Pioneer 505 reads these items the same way, so there's no getting around it no matter what metal detector you have. HH.

When you get a dime reading, lift your coil and swing again. If it disappears quickly, it's most likely a dime. If you're still getting a good signal after raising your coil 4 inches or so it's probably gonna be an aluminum can.

Thanks for the tip DGERST. When the rain quits I will try your trick.

HH y'all.

Frank

When u do. That trick make sure to make note of the depth reading first if its a dime near the surface ur not going to loose it at 4" above the surface.

Dgerst and PostalTwo, thanks for the dime target advice! That trick has been right on!!!! I have picked up nearly 25 dimes and virtually eliminated aluminum from my diggings thanks to your suggestions.

Worked a new tot lot today. I'm nicknaming it my "Dime Box!". That's all I pulled from it....6 dimes and not a single other currency.

Walt, I'm having more fun with my 3500 than should be allowed by law!! Thanks again for steering me this way. Another thing that has helped me improve has been finally getting the hang of correctly ground balancing. When I start getting false or really mixed up signals, I balance the unit again, check the sighting and usually get a clearer signal. Since I learned to hunt by sound on the Tracker IV, I find myself doing this with the 3500. If I hear the tone I like, I then look at the readout for verification.

Thanks again to all 3 of you guys!!

HH y'all.
