Any jewelry experts out there?

Found a ring today. Heavy gold and platinum. Down about 3 inches. Registered a 45 to 50 on the DFX. Inside the band it is labeled 18KL & PLAT B.B. What does that mean? Any help on this one would be greatly appreciated. Can't find anything on the net.

Take it to your local jeweler or perhaps your local dealer for a non guesstimate answer..Personally don't like the L or B.B as could mean you don't have a valuable find but a rip off faker but your local jeweler will put you mind at ease one way or the other.

I'm with Dan. I googled 18kl and got one hit for a gold plated ring and no hits for the plat B.B, both are "tags" I'm not familiar with.

I'm really interested in the anwer to this one! I did a LOT of searching and nothing on the Plat BB....???

A picture of these marks would help, any chance of one ?

I forgot to mention that the 18KL, as best I can tell, stands for 18 Karat Layered. Layered is thicker and holds up to wear better than plating.....also, I think it has to comprise a minimum percentage of the base metal weight to be considered 'layered.' Still looking for something on the "Plat BB"........so far, nothing!

Took it to a jeweler today. She took it to the back room and tested it. Came back and said it is the real mccoy. Still going to take it to another jeweler to verify today's findings.

As for the pictures - my old computer is having problems, lots of problems. Going to get a new pooter and start uploading photos in the very near future. Just have to come up with the money for the expenditure right around christmas time, no less.

Allrighty folks. I'm feeling good about this one. Took it to 2 more jewelers - they both confimed what the first jeweler said. This is a real 18k and platinum ring. Wish I could upload pictures. Talked with my nephew and he told me that windows xp is no longer giving updates for xp. My printer software has attempted to update and has basically locked me up on pictures.

You have problems other than XP (also, XP will be supported until 2014). You can download driver updates from the printer's site. However, why do you need a printer to post pictures?
