Hi all, I found this along the Niagara river in NY and I have no idea what it is...It's about 1" high by 7/8" wide...It was really off the beaten path where I found it. Any help is appreciated.

Well hello Carlluvscorinne!

I don't think it is a brooch but maybe a decorative item that was attached to a saddle or some such. It appears to be a bit concave/hollow in the back and it also looks to have had some metal mounting "ears" or tabs on the back that would have been folded over to attach it to some larger item. What do you think?

Also, I recognize your ID from another metal detecting site. I sold you a small Whites coil about a year ago...I hope it met all your expectations and you found the ton of goodies you were looking for <smile>.
