Any Ideas

Confused

New member
Hello all,

Got out today to a not so hunted park today. got a crap load of clad, one Rosie (actually my first Rosie too) and a couple strange ones. Any idea what these two can be? The large piece almost looks like a bust or something. It's copper. Could the ball be a bullet?

The ball certainly could be a bullet, hard to tell from the photo. Is it made of lead? Is your "copper" thing flat? It looks more like oxidized brass to me. At this time, I would guess UMO- unidentified metal object.

Hahaha. Yeah, it is flat and it rang in at 12:35ish. The ball rang in at 12:12ish. So I guess it it has to be lead. It certainly isn't gold.

The flat "bust" shaped thing, could be the copper part of a printer's block. I have found some made from a thin sheet of copper and lead backed. Some just copper that have been tacked to a block of wood. The ball, if it's lead, looks about the size of a 30 or 32 cal. bullet......Interesting finds.....HH

I figured it could be a bullet, because in the same area last week I found that 1817 George III Sixpence there, so this place does have a little history. Here in Los Angeles County, CA, we're kind of limited to where we can find anything. Everything is concrete now. This is a strip of grass about 10 feet wide between a curb and a sidewalk.
