Greetings everyone. I really enjoy reading the forums here - great site! New here and to MDing. Just got an Ace 250, but alas, the ground is like concrete here in colorado.got blisters on my palm from digging in my back yard.
 
Hi John, I think what you have there is a old clock part. A pendulum rod. A weight atttached to one end - the other end attached to a pallet fork. The pallet fork rocked back and forth with each swing to release the escape wheel one click at a time. Here's a picture of one with the weight, it also has the screw adjustment. The one you have looks like it was a slide adjustment.
