Any ideas on where to go on West Coast of Fla beach detecting?

Hi there. I am travelling to the west coast of Florida - between Naples and Tampa (approx) next week. I am looking to do some water detecting. Any ideas on beaches where I could expect to find something? I am not asking anyone to tell me where their "honey holes" are, but just some names of beaches and approximate locations where I might have some luck at the beach in the general vicinity of where I am going.

Any help would be appreciated.

thanks in advance,

Mark

Mark,
Any beach that is crowded will do. Try beaches around hotels and such. I was just down there last week and was amazed at all the people with detectors runnig around and I still found a nice ring, lots of change and junk jewlery. Slow down and take your time and you will do fine. The fast footed big swingers miss a lot. Most all my finds were deeper than 9" the ring was around 14" in wet pack sand.
Good luck!

Most of the beaches have been re sanded and the old drops are way down under the ground.

New drops are few and far between as the pawn shops have become the competition for us metal detectorists.

Not much is being worn on the beach any more. Go to any crowded beach and check the amount of gold being worn......it is a lot less than just even a year ago.

The amount of people at the beach has dropped too. Talked to a few restaurant owners and they all say business is way down.

Lots of people with metal detectors of late....lots of new people........went to Siesta beach and saw 7 people with detectors and that was at 5:30 am. just before sun up.

Check out the beach on gulf coast drive. It is not being detected as heavily as the main beaches such as Siesta, Lido or Desoto beach. Figure out the beaches that are less popular and your chances are better as they have not been hit as hard as the main beaches.

I will check those spots you mentioned, as well as any good-size hotel beach that gets fair amount of people visiting it.

Thanks,
Mark
