Hi everyone, I am new to the forum and also new to MDing. I started about two weeks ago. I have a BH Lone Star. It's been pretty good so far. I am learning alot about pin pointing. Mostly finding coins and junk. I have only searched in my yard and have found about six quarters from the 70s and a bunch of pennies dimes, and a few nickels. I did find something today that is probably just junk but thought i would ask. the pics aren't very good, but maybe you can tell. I found a 1964 nickel also, so i put it next to the whatzit for size comparison. thanks to all and I am looking forward to the future with MDing. I really enjoy it.

Not a clue sorry...but welcome to the hobby and our forum. theres alot of smart people here. someone should know. post it on the watzit forum if you havent already.

Very interesting peice...Looks like it went on the end of a rod of some sort, and the hole was for a cotter pin of some sort...maybe some kind of cam wheel??? Also the base looks like it was some sort of ratcheting system???

It looks to me like a captive nut that you put in a wood hole to accept a metal bolt. You can get them at Home Depot. IKEA uses them a lot too.
