Any ideas on what this is?

Found this last time out. Appears to be copper brass. Small hole goes down to meet the larger bore.

Thanks,

Looks like a mini cannon for the 4th of July similar to the party crackers they sell today. Tiny bit of black powder, paper wad and a fuse is enough to make a pretty good bang! Really cool find!!

The small hole meets the bore at the very bottom, so it couldn't have been used to pin it to a stick or anything else. The thing appears to be cast, and there are what could be lathe tool marks in places, whether it was machined after casting or picked up the marks from the mold I don't know.

Thanks,

Chris

Just wonder if it had a string of some sort thru it with a knot to keep it in place and the bottom fit in something to keep it tight? I love those unknow finds... very cool.
