Any ideas on what this eagle piece might be?

Seems like it's cast bronze?...very detailed engraved feather work.
Beautiful greenish brown patina.
Nice solid weight at 60 grams.
12-42/43 on the E-Trac.

Plowed farm site Southampton, Long Island.
Confirmed 1750's site - also found King George large copper.

It was attached to something else via the hole in the top.
Dagger part? Musket part? Cane part? Bottle cap opener?

Any ideas would be really appreciated.

Thanks.
Barry

Interesting piece there!!!
I don't have any idea as to what it is part of, but I agree, it is very detailed.
Hopefully someone can give you some information on it.

I think it is the handle of a cane. Have seen several similar ones. HH TomB

I've gotten some pictures of a flint lock pistol butt end and sword hardware - all 18th century as expected.
Thanks.

:usaflag:Are you sure it's not a turkey? Kind of looks like one.

I think it's a cane piece as well. the hole in the top is where the screw runs down through the eagle into the wood. cool find!

I think McDave is right on...after taking a second hard look I also think it is a turkey head and not a eagle. TomB

looks like a cane topper to me too. nice find bud.

Yes guys - I searched around the internet saw some pictures and that is exactly what it is.
Thanks for helping to solve the mystery....
Now where is the rest of that sword...hmmmm......
