any ideas on what it might be?

hi everybody. does anyone know what this piece might be? it's brass, about 1" tall, about 3/4" wide and has gold plate around the central design inside the cross. the rest of it is a nice dark green patina. the other side is exactly the same. it might be upside down for all i know. there is rust on the two pins coming out of the cross. there are no markings at all on the piece. i found this in the same farm field i found that real nice yankee cuff button in, along with 15 flatbuttons, a broken heelplate, and an ornate brass trigger guard. so, i definetly know the yankees were around. there was some speculation that one of the yanks might have tried to make it into a corps pin, but i don't know...i sure hope you do! thanks for your help in advance, and hh!

I'm guessing some kind of medal of honor pendant or badge of some sort, hard to tell. Nice find!
