i found this on a north wales field, it weighs 3 to 4 pound and i gave it a little scratch and its silver in colour,im thinking it could be an inkwell paperweight but im proberbly wrong, can any one help??? it is in the same condition as it came out of the ground, thanx.

Maybe it's some type of counterweight. This is a counterweight system on a 1906 bridge in Chicago. Who knows, it could be a trebuchet counterweight.

Also is that 7cm or 7 inches?
I am also leaning toward counterweight of some type...

HH,

1st 2nd 3rd and 4th Base markers, used on sports and playing fields, stick a pole in the Lead block

and have a game of Rounders a kind of Baseball game played by girls in the U K.

Now go out and find the other three Dave

Is a 6"x6", 3 or 4lb lead block big enough to support a pole being rounded by a speeding kid? Was the block buried flush in the ground?

Lead counter weight...

The possibility of a trebuche counterweight considering it's location in Wales has some merit. Well, it sounds good.

thanks fo all your sugestions, its in cm on the photo, the hole is about 12mm deep and 15mm across and chamfers in, ive gave it a little clean and there is a tiny 5mm boerd hole on one the side of the block, that is 2-3mm deep 5mm across, also on the bottom of the block there is a hole th same as the top but its only 4mm deep, i have more pics but im struggeling to upload them i will keep trying.
