any ideas on hunting an old home site where the house burned down?

i know of a site that once stood a very old 2 story farm house. but for reasons unknown it was burned down several years ago in a control burn by the city. now sits a huge empty lot. I tried hunting once with no success. just tons of trash. seems they left whatever was in the house there when they burned it. i got bed springs and garbage. Is hunting a burned down site any different then one that was torn down? any help on this with greatly appreciated for I really think there may be something good there. but i havent hunted many old sites before so i am a newbie at it

frustating to say the least.
I have a few pics of finds  from burned down sites up in upstate NY, I hunted a lot of them that dated in range from the 1600's thru the 1920's era+-
If you dont have the time forget it and hunt around the home area.
If and when you get the time and patiance... DO THE HOUSE site :D, they can be very rewarding and also can be a loss of time
but thats what the hobby is about, the fun of it all , so enjoy being out and have fun at it and good luck
