Well this is one of the finds at that 1884 Church but don't have a clue what it is. Some sort of clasp I'm guessing the piece that was in between looks like it might have been leather not sure..... Any help would be great...

Book clasp...like on the end of a leather strap that keeps the "old" books closed???? My best guess at the moment. Thanks for the pictures!

Thanks great idea, I wonder if bibles had those on them? I guess it makes perfect sense :)
