any ideas about long, strong signal ?

Hi ... I'm looking for some insights into what my CX Plus with Depth Multiplier may be detecting.

I'm in a mountainous region. When crossing a small dry wash between two hills my detector begins to scream. The meter pegs out. I walked up the wash nearly 500 ft before I lost the signal and it covers an area about 30 ft wide. It begins picking up the signal at a height of about 10-15 ft above the wash area as I come down the bank.

Detecting in this region is not new to me and I've never come across anything like this. I've been over large culverts before and never got a signal nearly this strong or broad. The wash appears to be solid rock so there's no evidence of prior digging. I'm reminded of walking over a concrete pad and picking up the rebar but that definitely can be ruled out here. The area is also not where there would any large (or small) sewer pipes.

I'm thinking that there's some type of naturally occurring mineralization that might cause this but it still seems very odd especially given the equipment that I'm using.

Thanks for any thoughts !

Email me and I'll steer you to my friend the geologist, miner, nuggetshooter, who can probably help you out.
