Any Ideas, A mini-cannon?

Hello all,

Also posted this on the explorer forum. Found it last time out detecting at an old farmsite. Appears to be copper or brass.

The small hole visible in the top picture meets the main bore at the very bottom of the bore, it does not go all the way through. Possible that it could be a fuse opening. Bore is about 3/4 inch. Appears to be a casting, but there are some tool marks visible, perhaps some clean up lathe work after casting.

Thanks,

Chris(SoCenWI)

Chris, interesting piece, but I doubt is has anything to do with a "cannon." If there are any antique malls in your area, take it there and see if any of the dealers might know. Obviously, it goes to something as a part. Hopefully, someone will know.
