Any idea on this piece?

Mike: This is the center portion of a folding umbrella (Crouch, p.53). Unless you are near an old house, you could be onto something. This is a common campsite find.

I had no idea what it was. It was found in a cornfield along with a whole lot of other civil relics.
 
Hi, here is a couple I've found over the years.The item in the center is the what fits in the slots and holds the wire or wood rods that go out to the edge of the parasol.There are different sizes,these don't match. HH Jerry
