ANY GOOD DIGGER RECOMMENDATIONS? I'M

New member
I'm currently using the GATOR digger, and have been using it for quite a few years. It's a great digger, but it only measures 9.5" from the top of the handle to the tip of the blade, and it's starting to dull. Many times I have wished that I had a longer and sharper digger for those deepies, and I would like to purchase one soon. Before I buy, I would appreciate any recommendations from users that are happy with the digger that they are presently using. Thanks!

the whole thing is 2 feet long, the blade is eight inches but you can dig the deepies due to the nice long handle, its great one.......and what I prefeer for deep coins ........

I find that the Lesche digging tool to do the best job and by far my biggest selling digger by 10 to 1. Now a longer digger may not be the best to take to any of these sites as it don't look good and in some case you may be ask to leave. Now if you are hunting farm fields where it don't make a defence in digging than a shovel like the Lesche Samson or a Ground Shark works good for this purpose.

I have seen some good answers....The best tools you can find in my opinion are Predator line of tools. George is the original designer of the Lesche tool line. After some family issues...Predator Tools were created. Since they are also a forum sponsor I would recommend them.

Who are Pamela Lesche and George Lesche? The Predator site say's the tools are designed by George but somehow after looking at Walter's site that don't seem quite right. Two different folks with the same name didn't design the same tools.

I bought a Predator digger last year and have wondered ever since about Pamela Lesche, it just didn't seem to fit somehow... why the business would be in her name.
You say they are now competitors? I'd like to know a little more about who started the tool line, who actually designed them so I will know who I want to buy from in the future.

Thanks,

J

The way I always understood it is that George is the founder of the company and the designer of the diggers. The name of the company was Pamela Lesche, now I don't know if that was his wife's name or family name, but there was some disagreement I heard and was going to go out of business. George was out of it, but he kept the equipment to make the tools and started up the Predator tools with many different diggers style to chose from. Now I understand they are competitors and The Lesche diggers are sold by many different dealers as they are stocked by our dist while the Predator is sold only by George himself as there is no other dealers.
I hope George will comment on this as this is what I had heard happen and don't know 100% this is what happened. I do know it is 2 different company now and at one time I was told on the forums that when the breakup there may not be anymore Lesche diggers being made.I don't remember hearing the name Walter Lesche before and wonder if it suppose to be George Lesche.

The answer to your question.....

George worked for the family business. With his love of detecting he started producing tools for metal detecting and us local hunters. That was the beginnings of the Treasure hunting tools.

Pamela is George's wife and she handled the treasure tool line( George enjoyed making tools, but not the paper work). Also there are two places to get Predator Tools. Direct or through us, because they are relatives of ours. Reason: Predator wants to sell tools, and we can compliment tools with the purchase of other items.

And yes they are two different companies, George builds each Predator Tool himself, With the highest of quality in mind. If it is not to his standard it goes in the scrap pile.

The break-up came after the death of a family member(things in the family business changed).

Click on the link below to find out about Walter Lesche (deceasesd) the original founder and designer of Lesche Tools, and the family company that still manufacturers them.

If you are going to dig in any parks or lawns you need it. I can dig a plug in a lawn with it, retrieve the object, and leave the hole so you cannot find it. You cannot do this with a shovel type digger. I hate it when I invite someone to hunt and they bring a shovel unless we are going to the woods. I always have to remain behind and try to make their holes look better. I am really picky about leaving a place looking as if it has not been hunted... I even do it in the woods, I fill in my holes and re-spread the ground cover. I notice that I seem to be the only one who does this in the woods or on construction sites but I am rambling now.
That's why I would buy the Lesche digger from Predator. Also, I use a garden kneeling pad and I can dig a deep hole quickly with it, pile the dirt on a dish towel and still re-fill the hole and make it so you can't find it.

If you hunt parks and yards it is important.
