Any G2 users compare it to Sovereign in Iron?

They are both known as the best detectors in iron arround in many circles. Anyone with experience swing both able to give their thoughts?
Thanks

I used a Sovereign for over 5 years. I do like it. I dug 2 IH's at 11" with the 8" coil but in iron it does mask a lot of targets. When it nulls on iron anything near iron is nulled too. The G2 or Gold Bug Pro/DP is a great detector to go with the Sovereign. Where there isn't as much iron use the Sovereign and where there is a lot of iron use the G2. Or use the G2 first then look for the deepest targets with the Sovereign. It has unbelieveable separation on targets and is very fast. The dual processors make the G2 very quiet and haven't had any emi problems. The G2 does like flat pieces of iron that hit good but it will pick up a coin right next to the iron where the Sovereign wouldn't. They would make a good combination. I would recommend the 5x10dd with a G2/Gold Bug Pro, DP.

Thanks for the post Rick. I had no idea the G2 would beat out the Sov. I know the recovery is slower in the Sov., but I had some people tell me the Sov. won't even pick up iron. I just wasn't sure if that was 100% accurate. I hear good things on the 5x10.
Thanks again!

You will like it with the 5 x 10. I have been digging 7 to 10 inch for most targets here.

The Sovereign does null over iron not making a sound. Sometimes gets false signals on iron but is checked very east with pinpoint. It is a very nice detector but like I said the G2 will run circles around it. The Sovereign goes deeper. The G2/Gold Bug Pro,DP is the king in iron trash. The only problem is you will dig a lot of metal that hits good like a coin. flat metal, cans, lids etc. especially at cellar holes. So maybe this kind of hunting the Sovereign wouldn't be so bad.
