any fisherman with an eye for ID'ing old lures?

Found this detecting at a lake that was created in the 1930's. Any idea to the maker / age of the lure? Thanks - Jim

If you can find a site that has old lures you may look for one that had a wooden body attached to this.

hmm interesting and makes sense. I mean the weight of this thing... it would of sank at 9 feet per second lol Having a wood structure attached makes logical sense to allow it to float instead of dredging the bottom of the lake :) Thanks for the info - Jim

I don't believe there was ever any wood attached to this. Pulling it through the water at a steady speed will keep it suspended off the bottom. I would call it a type of spoon lure.

This IS a Wicked Wiggler (S Series) and was made from 1926 thru 1940. The body length should be 2-1/2" and weigh 3/4 oz..
It would have had a set of 2 treble hooks with a fly attachment on the back treble. It was made by Creek Chub Bait Co..
The S1 series had a feathered attachment at the rear and the S2 series had a single hook at the rear for attaching pork rind.
This same lure was so successful that in 1967 it was re-released as the Cohokie by Creek Chub. At that time, they offered a
larger and a smaller size. However, the larger size was the same size of the original 2-1/2" one. If it is an older model in
pristine condition it could be worth as much as $75.00 but the newer model would be worth only about $20.00.

glenn,

The total length of the lure is 3" and I had to pull out my digital scale to get an accurate weight. The lure weighs in at 0.6 oz. (probably less weight due to the hooks not being on the lure?) Looks are deceiving lol Certainly has seen better days. Thanks for the info - Jim
