Any Experience with MAHA Powerex 9vt. NIMH Batteries:

Hey Guys/Girls, Has anyone had any personal experience with MAHA POWEREX 9vt. NIMH Batteries in their Fisher Detectors? HH,

Hi,

I am using 150 mah Vartas and they work perfectly. I would expect the MAHAs to do equally as well if not better. I can get 5-10 hours out of the ones I have depending on if the backlight is on. I am using the speaker all the time and that uses more current than many headphones.

With any NiMH batteries make sure you first cycle them 3 times fully before use.

I used em in a CZ5, and for me they didn't work very well, seemed like they didn't hold charge very long, had to be changing batteries a lot, they would let me down at the time i was really getting into it, so i gave on them, mebbe it was my detector or just the batteries, but i didn' have much luck with the MAHA line, i just use panasonics in everything now, and they hold up well, and are cheap if you get them at the dollar store :detecting::fisher::fisher::fisher::usaflag::usmc:

Like the man says 5 plus hours was bout all i could get with the MAHA, on the panasonics i could get up to 30-40 hr and then throw em away, they are bout $2 ea, and not rechargable, i just didn' like havin to carry extra batteries around all the time, cause when a nimh goes dead, it's quick about it, the not rechargable goes dead slower and you notice it, gives you a little more time:twodetecting::fisher::fisher::fisher::usaflag::usmc:

and I've had great luck with them. I use them on my C$, CZ3-D, Excell and Shadows. I usually change them after two hunts (8 to 10 hrs total) and the voltage is still up to 9 on the Fishers display.

:fisher: Same for me with them I use them in my Coin Strike and the CZ 70 Pro.

Take Care.

MANY THANKS, Guys! Now another question. What brand and model chargers did and do you use?
Being I got both positive and negative responses on the MAHA's, I'm trying to narrow it down to whether everyone used the MAHA 9vt. Charger, or some other model! HH

I also use Maha chargers exclusively. Have one for 9v's, another for AA's, and a third for battery packs. Never any problems with any of them.

Had a maha and a radio shack, both worked OK, used both chargers cause i had 8 batteries, couldn't tell any diff in chargers:detecting::fisher::fisher::fisher::usmc:

Hi, I have Everyready AC chargers, Radio Shack and another brand. They all deliver
different amperage rates and have different timers. Some only run 4 hours,
some run 14 hours. Make certain the charger matches the battery. Fast charge batteries
need matching fast charge chargers for example. Some chargers made for an 850 mah
AA would need twice the time on an 2000 mah AA for example. And if the timer
shut off at 7hrs then you would have to charge the battery twice to get it fully charged.
Best headache to avoid is a mismatched NiMH charger.

good luck

They fit into them perfectly. I just thought I would add that to this thread as a tip if you weren't already doing it.

I had 2 loose 9-volts touch together in my pocket once & couldn't figure out why my leg was getting so dang warm! :hot:

THANKS Bugar! I started using Panasonics a couple of months age, as a result of your recommendation. I'm still on my first set, because I haven't been using the CZ-70Pro much lately! I'm in beach/waterhunting mode at this time. Also, I want to spend some time with my new "Little Fireball", as soon as this HORRENDOUS HEATWAVE leaves us!! HH
