Any Eagle Spectrum help for a Brit??......

Gaz

New member
Hi guys!!

New on here but looks great!!

I have picked up an Eagle Spectrum which I think was the fore runner of the XLT right??

I'm gonna have some more questions soon but I wondered if any of you guys could help??

At what point on the discrimination minus scale does small iron start to become larger iron??

Also.....it runs the same frequency as the XLT.....6.59Khz right??
I notice that there are many DD coils out there that suit the M6, MXT and DFX because of THEIR frequencies but are there larger DD coils out there for XLT frequencies??

Many many thanks,

Gaz.

Hey from across the pond! My best hunting buddy still uses his Eagle and does very well. (I'll be running newer stuff and he doesn't care a bit either.) To see where the small iron and larger stuff starts showing up differently will take some personal experience to get the ear for it. Dig it all for a while and you'll see where it is in your ground and what you'll find is those numbers are spread all over from highs to low negatives. The thing with iron is once it gets to decomposing, it does so somewhat erratically. (There are general patterns though.) Getting ratcheting down is going to help you immensely in figuring out the size of it all.

I wish that I could tell you that I knew of DD for 6.59 but don't. Is there an aftermarket unit? (DD is awesome for iron too!)

Good luck with your hunting and find some hammies for us all!

Thanks mate!!

I've been searching and searching since posting this thread and as far as I can see, there is only a small shooter DD coil for the 6.59kHz machines.

I've tried Jimmy Sierra, Detech.......no joy.

Good luck Gaz.

Hi Gaz, my hunting buddy uses an Eagle Spectrum and really likes except for the weight. The only DD coil I'm aware of is White's 4x6 elliptical coil. Wish they had about a 10" model for the 6.59kHz units so I could use one on my QXT Pro. I believe it was an Eagle Spectrum Terry Herbert used to find the
Staffordshire Anglo-Saxon gold hoard last July. I really envy you all the history you have over their.
Good luck with your Spectrum.
Mike

I believe the answer to your first question is minus 15 to minus 10...

At least here in the States fellows that run it wide open go down that far.

Have used both and except for being heavy and only have two programs to make your own program istead of four on the XLT just about the same unit...A book call Spectrum Secrets is good reading for a new Spectrum user and that mixed mode audio if you can get used to the noise is a deep-killer mode.

Unfortunately DFX-MXT have a bunch of coils but won't work as freq. is different..
