Any E-Trac relic hunters out there?

That's my thing, and I'd like to kick it around with others of that same warped frame of mind.

Yep. I like the way it IDs iron, and then dig everything that is above the Ferrous 27 line. Really love it in colonial sites that have no aluminum. :)

Though I am not per say a relic hunter I have recently been hunting a area know as the Old Lincoln Trail here in Central Illinois. I have located a area that is several hundred yards long where the trail is still quite visible, in fact it is the only part of the trail that is still visible.

The trail was used from 1836 to 1853 and so far I have located a few artifacts and three large cents that are holed and are in very poor condition, all three being very hard to recognize as coins. I have only started to hunt this trail as I am waiting for some rain in our area (experiencing drought conditions) so we can dig with out damaging what we find. To get to anything right now you literally have to chip it out of the ground. Rick IL

Thanks for the shout back! Down here in South Louisiana, the default setting for weather is always semi-soggy. Whether through out and out rain or just screaming high humidity, things are usually easy to dig, etc. This summer we have endured some 100+ days, with no rain at all. I have given up trying to hunt many times simply because there was no dynamite available, so I understand what you're saying. The Lincoln Trial, I guess that says it all. Keep beepin'.
