Any Cortes stories...........

.......I'm really enjoying mine and it is performing very well for me, but I get the feeling that I may be in the minority. Am I the only guy having any luck with this target id unit? There is a rumour going around that a new ID unit is due for 2008 .So I go back to my question.... anyone having luck with their Cortes???

Well, I can only speak for myself but I love my Cortes. I started with an Ace 250 which was a good machine but the Cortes is orders of magnitude better. I find the TID to be accurate at least 75% of the time and even when it is off there are generally some indications that the target may be something other than the indicated item. After using the Cortes for a length of time I find that I don't need to use the Sum feature much, I pretty much know when I'm going to dig a iffy target.

In short, I have found much with the Cortes and am very happy with it. That said, I am looking forward to see what Tesoro is reportedly soon to release. Not because of any lacking in the Cortes, but because of how much I think of the Cortes and Tesoro.

or screw cap nearly every time. I like the depth meter too, I check it on every target. I use the notch function around picnic tables in parks, eliminates most pulltabs but not all. I just sold a good machine that had an analog meter, I like the Cortes digital meter better because it shows target ID and depth at the same time, no need to press a button to get the depth reading. Chopped beverage can pieces will fool it and like any other detector it can't ID any jewelry. All in all, I really like it.

I gave up on TIDs. Maby I should have tried the Cortes. Maby I will, one of these days.

Hi Corteser, I am in agreement with you and I have just started using the Cortes. I love it already and just feels great to swing it and the display is nice. The readout seems to be pretty accurate so far. Ok happy hunting all.
