Hello relic hunters ,i was wondering if any one had any clue to what this one is,its about 4 inches in length and was about 6 inches down .
I think i have and idea but wanted to know if anyone knows of age origin.
Dug from a very old feild in southwest virginia. I found another what is it and i will post a pic of it also. this object has a what looks like a union shield with stars atop the sheild on both sides it is very ornate and a prong inside of it with a small pin holding it into place to hold a knife or sword in it ? This was down about 8 inches. Thanks, Phil

Phil, the first item is brass "furniture" from a sword scabbard. Would have been a leather scabbard most likely. The second piece looks similar to the "throat" of a scabbard but it's hard to tell from your only pic. Nice finds, David

Thank You David! I know the pic doesnt show the detail dont have a good camera. The shields on both sides have 10 stars on top with stripes at the bottom.
Thank You Phil
