Any carp fishermen out there?

That is all I fish for, just for the fight they give, drag strippers for sure.
Use to take the red rider wagon to the river 3 houses away 60 plus years ago . Equipment tomato stake white kite string and a round white tin of fish hooks cost a quarter loved the silver hooks in there . Bait was always worms filled the wagon up pulled it home thinking we were famous my dad would look at it and say bury them in the garden said they were fertilizer , :confused:sube

I use to fish for them quite often. Ultra lite trout pole with 4lb test using size 12 or 14 trout hooks and wonder bread. It took some time to get them in but was a blast catching them.
These kids came over and asked to hold the fish.

Those are some big carp! I’m all about catch and release myself.

Eal were also good smoked. Depends what you grow up with. We would haul hundreds of pounds to Raimer fish company a local place. . Most got trucked to Chicago. He would smoke and sell to local grocery stores. You could get a nice hunk for 2 bucks. He died and the business went away. Used to commercial setline for Catfish also. My Dad and I were river rats.

We also trapped for red and gray fox beaver and muskrat. Used to hunt coon also. All in life changes now I shoot only deer and squirrels and fish for bluegills getting old.

Used to fish for them a lot probably the funnest fresh water fish to catch. We used to catch so many a night my side would be bruised from rod butt digging into it. Pound for pound will out fight most fish.

When they land locked after the floods were very easy to get. We would shoot them with bow . A prized fish for sure if prepared correctly. My buddy Catfish jack just built a new smoker for them.he built it out of old pallets . It runs 160 to 180 and uses ash for the wood. Very plentiful in the river bottoms on the old Mississippi
