I have a 1998 car, the battery has never been changed, but starts great.. I always thought batteries only last 3 or 4 years, why is this battery still going? odd
 
go to Kmart and buy the cheapest one I could get. I just might be wrong on that though:shrug:
 
the not so funny part, two years ago bought one of those portable emergency batteries that come with the two alligator clips, dead as a door nail and won't take a charge... oj
 
My 2001 Buick is on the battery that came with it new.
 
reason for it not to work.. I had a gel cell [also called a spiral cell] in my 68 bronco. It had 16 years on it when i sold the car and it was as good as the day I installed it.

So if it is not used, and cared for, ... it should be good
