I just ordered an Excalibur II, I'm coming from an SE Pro which my wife dropped into the water when she slipped and fell off the boat with it in her hands and ruined it. I only owned the SE Pro for 6 months, it was my first detector, I loved it and just used it on factory settings and dug up everything. This time I chose something water proof and wife proof.I am just looking for any tips on this machine, either for using it, or maintaing it? Thanks for any help, HH -John

My advice is to practice and REALLY learn the tones. Also, buy or make a straight shaft to lighten the load on your arm/shoulder. I use my excal on both land and water and right now would not trade it for any other detector! The tones are distinguishing! The depth is awesome. The stability in mineralized soil is outstanding. And, being in Oregon, I can hunt all year without having to worry about rain ruining my detector. You made a great purchase that I am sure you won't regret!

My advice would be to buy your wife a big bunch of flowers and take her out to a really super restaurant.......

On the beaches I detect - most of the others use SE Pro's..........I am delighted that they do..........

I use the GT (same technology as your excal, but not wife proof) and you are going to have some fun......... nice and slow swing......

Your wife has great judgement........

disc 1
sensitivity 6
volume 3/4 to full...this is the targets volume only
threshold..just audible
Disc/PP Disc........if you encounter a beach with very few targets, try PP mode....similar to hunting with a PI detector

Open the SE Pro up and let it sit in the hot sun for a few days. There is a good chance it will work again.

...If it was in fresh water. If it was dropped in salt water I'd stick it in the bathtub with no battery in it to wash it out good. Let it dry real well and there is a good chance it will work again.
