Hi all

I am going to buy my first metal detector this week and i am leaning towards the F2. I was just on ebay and saw an auction about to end so for the fun of it i bid on a TEKNETICS BOUNTY HUNTER TRACKER 1-D/505 METAL DETECTOR and won it. I paid $39.99 plus $20.00 in shipping. Did I do ok? I would love input. They said it was in great condition Thanks for your help

If I'm not mistaken the Tracker D-505 you bought is basically a Fast Tracker in a different case with an signal strength (intensity) meter. Not a bad price if it's in good shape. It'll be a good starter detector, and always good for hunting tot lots and playgrounds where good targets are not out of it's depth range. I dug a couple of older pennies that were about 5 inches deep and a 1/2 by 3/4 inch sterling silver teddy bear doodad from a bracelet or necklace at four inches while using a Fast Tracker I traded away a couple of weeks ago, that's enough depth to get most of the coins you'll swing over. To use it, set the sensitivity a maximum and discrimination at about the 12 o,clock position. That should give low tones on nickels, large foil and some of the newer style pulltabs, mixed high/low tones on old style beavertail tabs and any other target in the same conductivity range and high tones on pennies, dimes and higher coins. When you swing the coil, keep it close to the ground and make sure you keep it level throughout the entire swing. Many new guys use a pendulum type swing that raises the coil at both ends of a swing, that results in a lot of missed targets. If you get chatter, or a lot of false or erroneous signals, reduce the sensitivity until your Tracker runs stable.
