looking for any info on how these machines on how they run compared to the 1270 i've been made an offer to trade my cz3d for one of these and 5" coil and hard case am i nuts to do this or what?

The depth on it in certain ground ( more neutral to lightly mineralized) is as deep as any detector ever made maybe deeper...but depth comes at a price...The disc circuit is pretty good for about 6 inches or so but after that anything deeper will report as good no matter what....If I hunted a park it would not be my first choice...

The 1270 is almost as deep and in the all metal mode on the 1270 it has Ground Canceling capabilities ...and the disc works a lot better especially at depth...

Would I trade a CZ for one ??? according on what I wanted to do with it..Relics yes! deep silver clean areas yes! modern trash urban area's ?back up machine at the least for me...Would I want a 1266 as my only machine.. heck no..If I already had a 1270 I probably would be content..There close in depth but just an inch or so nodding to the 1270...

Value of the 1266 thats a tough call I have seen them go for 250.00 to close to 500.00 in pristine condition...
The better of the 1266 detector's that people really try and seek out are the first run with white spider 8 inch coil with white lower rod...They are a little more quite in the iron...they had a 2 piece stacked board ...some die-hard's will have nothing else..

I believe the cz will be hotter on the nickle range compared to the 1266 also.. it was on like 4 KHZ and even back in the day a good tesoro would snag buttons out of iron a 1266 just would not hit on..

now I am not knocking the 1266 it is a legend and I ran one for years..got pretty proficient with it and made a lot of finds but there was more to find then also....Heck I remember cleaning out a cavalry camp pretty dang good with a Toltec II one time but I was the first one in there and I still have a liking for a Toltec II but It's just a liking I would not care to have one as my main unit...

Heck if it's a nice one it might fetch 350.00 if you did not like it so what is the CZ worth?? thats the option to weigh out..if you dont like it sell it and snatch up another CZ there still being made...

Just my take... Are you confused yet:stars:

hey keith i thank you for the input for sure and i decided not to go on this machine and i settled on a tesoro vaquero with extra's but i will someday get a fisher 1270 that thing got some deep stuff and pulled out some deep coin as well the only reel issue i had with it was pinpointing was really wide so i'd always be digging the target out of the side of the whole but as far as depth i'd put it against the tejon anyday

Keith, you are right about the 1266X.I used this detector for coin shooting and mine would find deep junk targets that should have been discriminated out. In actual field use I found the 1236X much better for park hunting.

Jav, you shouldn't have to ask what compares to the 1270, its a stand along in the 1200 series. Been useing the 5" coil on it SEN 5, DISC 4, trashy area I've been hunting and its finding the deep Silver between the junk, unbelievable deep for a 5" in dry dirt. Have the same problem pinpointing, I use the toggle and go to the Iron mode, pin point it then release toggle, works great.

AMC.I think the 1266XB rod assembly broke down better than the 1266X was the only difference.
