Antique ladies gold ring

Old California

New member
Here are my recent finds made the past few days, An antique ladies gold ring and an Officers General Staff button not too far from the seated 1/2 dime button I found several days ago.

The ladies gold ring is gold and not gold plated, It's a mess and needs a good scrub to take off the crud.

Thanks for looking,
Paul (Ca)

Thanks El,

I think I've got about 15-18 buttons the past two months, The best and oldest came from your site 1830 era. Those are the ones that are just as good as a old coin find, Maybe even better because of the history on that settlement site :)

Thanks again amigo and see you soon :)

Thanks Coenwolf,

One of my friends told me to use Lime away, I'll repost a picture once the crud comes off. She should be a beauty, These old jewelry finds are a treat to recover especially when this old..

Thanks again,

Thanks George,

I agree, Nothing like finding an old coin or relic especially an old piece of jewelry.

This has been a good year for gold jewelry, And the best finds of course are the older jewelry finds. I've only found a few Antique gold rings in my career and each one brings more joy than it does with newer gold jewelry finds, Here's my take for the year so far (58.4 grams) and over half of this 18K.

I use numerous detectors for certain conditions and on this pile of gold jewelry the T-2 scored two gold rings, The rest with underwater detectors and a Baron....One of my friends used my T-2 and he scored three gold rings within a week, The T-2 is a winner on low conductive targets that's for sure.

Plus, I've been playing with the all-metal mode and see it as a very good setup for gold jewelry. Can't wait to see what type of results I get next year using the all metal mode.

Thanks again and happy holidays,
Paul (Ca)

Hi Chuck,

All metal mode would be used in cleaner areas with the intend of getting a deeper target or a weaker signal, Basically clearer areas with the chance of finding something good relying on the ID.

Otherwise, It would be a nightmare to continuously watch the meter with too much iron or trash present.....All metal mode would enhance the chance of finding smaller gold jewelry such as gold chains/bracelets, thin ear rings and such, It does give the T-2 an advantage over disc mode.

Same applies for gold nugget hunting, One would use all-metal mode and rely on the ID. You can still get extremely small targets using disc mode but all-metal would give you an edge, That applies to other detectors such as the Compass GoldScanner Pro and a few other all-metal ID detectors as well.

Plus, All-metal mode improves stability enabling the user to increase sensitivity in most cases.

Happy holidays!

Really great find there Paul. The T-2 must be your favorite one for relics? The ring is awesome! Is there a inline probe for the T-2?, I see the F-75 has one now. GaryC/SanBdno.

Thanks Gary,

The T-2 is one of my favorites for relic detecting, I use three different types of detectors for relic hunting mostly using the T-2.

I don't think Ralph will be making an in-line probe for the T-2, Only for the F-75 which I just heard is completed and about to be shipped out.

Thanks again Gary and Merry Christmas :)
