G'day to all,
Hope you all had a great Christmas.
I have managed to get out a fair bit but limited to around 3 hour early morning sessions as its been darned hot down here (43 Celsius in the shade here today by midday).
I found a spot where a crowd of people had gathered for Christmas Festivities.
So I went around the park the next day and scooped up $110
- all taken in the top 4" with guidance from my Garrett Propointer , a pair of long nosed pliers and a screwdriver to pop the coins out.
Anything deeper than 4" was ignored as the parks staff dont like their turf messed up ie. cutting a plug was out of the question.
It helps us Aussies a lot when we have no longer have $1 & $2 notes, they are gold coloured coins, and even better - the $2 coin is quite small and commonly lost.
4 days later I went back for 3 hours and picked up another $40 or so - and a beautiful old ring.
It was 3-4" down and had been in the ground for quite a while, as it was very dirty I thought nothing of it (as I have found a lot of junky rings this year) and popped it in my finds bag and carried on.
Later at home, once washed with soapy water it came up like new immediately...thats when I got excited.
In the sun the stones have a real gemstone brilliance - Ruby's set in 9ct Rose gold...the centre one has some red-mauve colour in it when in the light.
The hallmarks are from a notable Australian jeweller 1904.
For those who like this stuff....Standard MF 9" coil ( I find this great for parks being relatively large and so light), Sens. 20, Tracking ON.
I had discriminated out everything except 4 intended Targets....20c, 50c, $1 & $2 coins.
This ring came in at 30 - which is the same as our $2 coin.
Santa brought me a 6" HF coil. I have had it on and found it sooo sensitive - its gunna be great in my trashy spots and on the goldfields.
I hope you all have a healthy and fantastic New Year and manage to coil or two.
