Answer from Minelab

I emailed Minelab to find out if there was any plans for a small coil for my X-70. Guess what? I was advised to keep checking Minelabs website, that when and IF one is made it will be posted there. I expected as much. I like my X-70 and it has a lot of potential but without a small coil it is not a complete detector at least for me. My MXT has a wide array of coils one for every type of hunt and until a small coil is made available,if ever, for my X-70 it will continue to be just a backup detector. Its to bad that Minelab fails to interact with its customers and tell them what is in the works for the X-terra detectors. I don't want you to think that this is just sour grapes because I have used my X-70 a lot this summer and I have found a lot of goodies, but I was only able to use it in non trashy areas. I bought the elliptical coil which helps in trashy areas, but it still is to big. I can only hope hope that Minelab will come out with a small coil. HH Dennis in Idaho

I have to agree with you on minelabs lack of communication. When I rang them up to get some information about coils, all I got was a convenient answer. When I spoke to my local dealer, he was not awear that the a medium frequency round DD coil even existed (about 6 weeks after they were supposed to have come out). Nor was he advised by minelab, that they were releasing the new explorer.
I quite like my X-terra, but it is taking the back seat for a while, while I play with my Ace. Once they have a better coil selection, I may buy them and start using it again.
Sure wish they would lift their game as far as communication goes.
All the best.
Mick Evans.
