Another XS-2a question ...

Willee - Texas

Well-known member
I have owned and used Sovereign GT's and XS-2a detectors in the past but is has been a few years since I last used one.
They have always performed well at salt water beaches and shallow water hunting.

The one I have now seems to decrease distance (in air) if I turn the sensitivity past the beach mark.
At the beach today I was using it at full sensitivity and it was very stable. Almost too stable for that setting.
Is something wrong here?
Should the detecting distance (in air) decrease if the sensitivity control is turned past the beach mark?

After looking closer at the control I see that it works backwards of the other controls.
Turning clockwise DECREASES sensitivity.
Full clockwise is not MAX it is MIN.
No wonder the detecting distance (in air) decreased as I cranked the control clockwise.
Hunted the beach yesterday at minimum sensitivity ... boy, that thing ran quiet ... a senior moment. LOL

So its is back to the beach today to see what I missed.

Went back to the beach with the sensitivity control properly set and the XS-2a worked as it should.
Found a few encrusted penneys deep in the sand so I know all is well.
The Sovereign is one of the best detectors for the salt water beaches.
Chest mount the control box in a plastic bag and it is a great wading machine also.

A lot of bang for the buck!
