Another X-1 probe question

Hopefully My X-1 frobe will get here this weekend, I am looking forward to it but I am wondering if there are any hints or tweeks that will help or is it turn on and go? Thanks in advance for any help and again apologies to any one I may have left out during my tantrum.

Hi lilfox, The X-1 is turn on and go, just like the guys posted. And, instructions for attaching to your Explorer are included. The X-1 will use whatever settings you are using on your Explorer. It's just like having a 1" coil. Any questions, just post and we'll post answers, or give me a call anytime. Good hunting, David @ Dixie

Hi Folks,I have been using the X1 probe for about 18 months now and I must say that its a cracking bit of kit.
As a senior citizen I aim to conserve energy and while missing very little.
The XI probe enables this to happen as once I have removed the initial soil the probe will locate the spot to concentrate on.
Of course the other advantage is that it is just a small coil and you get a reading on the screen.

Thanks for the post guys. I am looking forward to getting my X-1. Hope I hear from david this friday it has been shipped but if not next week I will get to try it out, will keep you posted, from what I hear instead of 6 inch holes maybe 3 inch, I get tired of playing earthmover.

First I have two probes (one for each Explorer) and neither one likes the gain any higher than 7 in our soil. Even at that sometimes in sand it falses so if its giving you fits check your gain.
Second, use the pinpoint feature on the Explorer with this probe, first I wave it in the hole in normal mode hoping to hear high tones and get a general idea of where the coin is, then I go into pinpoint mode to home right in on the coin. At the higher sens I run the probe in normal mode can pick the coin up off the side of the probe but pinpoint tames the power and I can put the probe right on top of the coin.
Oh I guess I have three...if you go for 20-30 minutes without finding a coin...turn the probe off and retrace your steps.

Hope this pic comes on. This setup works great for me. No cord in the way, it sounds off on the lower shaft clamp to let you know you forgot to shut it off and it is so light that you don't even notice it being there.

Larry and chuck;
Have mine set up the same and is working great.
the point about sounding off on the cam clamp is a very good one because you don't forget to switch back to the coil.

Chuck, Ronin, Thanks a bunch, it looks good and sounds the same. Will give a try as soon as it comes.

Nobody to apologise to lilfox, I don't think you left out ANYBODY during your tantrum.
Good to see its sorted now and good luck with the probe. Mine only took 6 days delivery to Australia.

You will forget to turn the probe off and as Charles just said you will go a bit without a target of depending where you mount it you will have it going off all the time on your coat pocket change... Guvner..
