Vistied the fairgrounds today. Same stuff as usual and some startling observations.
1. The 1350 sucks with the stock coil in trash congested areas. I have been lazy and just using my Golden here, as it is ultra precise and really separates the nickles from the light bulb bases. But, it doesn't get near the depth that the Garrett does. That 1350 will honk over a dime in China, I swear!
I have put off a sniper coil for lots of crappy reasons, but I guess I cant anymore...
2. Trash is hard to hunt in. No wonder people get discouraged. I decided to grid and not cherry pick, digging all iffy signals from foil through pulltab and of course all the lovely Zc cent signals I received. NO gold but plenty of crap. Man what a test of endurance - which I failed at. I only managed it for about 2 hours - after that, I needed a Gatorade and went back to cherrypicking until I came home.
3. Being out in the sun and wind is dehydrating. I had to run down the road to the quick-shop for a jug couldn't drink enough of the stuff. I downed a quart of liquid on the spot. When I got home I was still thirsty and quaffed a fortifed ceral grain drink, in about 3 gulps. If you expect to be out for hours on end - take non-alcoholic liquids and energy food.
4. Don't complain to people. A nice guy with a ton of information and an upcoming trip to a CW site near Charletson stopped to chat. Had I listened more and run my mouth less, I might have gotten an invite. As it was, I couldnt shut up about how my job got in the way of detecing, how I should have stayed in graduate school, how the solar flares were affecting my detector and Why, oh Why, did Dionne Warwick leave the Psychic Friends??
Good lessons learned. Here's the gleanings:

Thats a dumb old K-Swiss medallion in the lower middle and the blue thing is someones retainer - I eyeballed that one. I said, "Whoooweee," when I first saw the medallion. Danged!
50+ coins for right at $5.00USD and the Usual Suspects on the left.
Peace out, yo!
