Another State Lake hunt... GOLD and SILVER! WooHooo!

Spontaneously, we packed the kids and headed to a lake that was closed for the season. When we arrived I was amazed to see many folks in the water swimming and although swimming was no longer permitted until summer the park ranger didn't care. He didn't care about us detecting it either! The 100's of people made it tough to get in the water and cover it effectively. I needed a GPS just to figure out the spots I didn't get to. Unfortunately, I did not bring a camera.

Lately, we haven't posted because I was either sick, kids were sick or we were rained out. We have hit some parks and playgrounds but nothing better than clad and it wasn't worth posting. Saturday, I saw my excal was dusty and just resting in the corner of a storage room. It hadn't been out since you saw us last on June 11. Can you imagine that kind of down time? I couldn't just let it sit there like that! Something had to be done.

This weekend I wanted a change so I hit the water. I found the gold this time. Bia got the silver. That was a huge change for me! Bia usually finds the bling. It's nice to get some of my own for once.

We all want to come visit you. Kids are dying to hit the sand at Virginia Beach. Maybe the end of the month or around Columbus Day... I'll look at the calendar but I'll send you an email about the specifics.

I'll buy the crabs! I need a snowcrab fix big time!

now thats a family hunts for sure, sweet tickets :clapping: those fresh water haunts hold a lotta STUFFFFFFF

coastwise

Silver should turn black in water but it cleans up nice regardless. Bia's quarter came out exactly the way it looks in the picture. It was only washed with water.

The sand is imported annualy so the quarter probably came from the same place the sand did. Considering there's no salt in the sand and it's condition is pretty clean- I would imagine it's been preserved in the sand for a really long time. Bia did say it was about 8 inches or so down.
