I spent part of the morning going over some of my earlier finds from back in the day. These are four spoons that for one reason or the other I took a fancy to and held on to them. All came from the same site that had activity from about 1850 until 1920. Starting from the left, #1, is marked on the back *nickel silver*, #2 is marked sterling silver, #3 is marked *1847 Rogers Bros A1* and had been silver plated.
My question is about #4.....for such a plain looking spoon it's marked on the back *Prussian -S- Silver*. At first I thought it was just another name for "nickle silver" but after a Google search I'm more confused than ever. Is it is truly made of silver and if so why use silver to make such a plain looking spoon?
Any comments would be welcome. but still
