Another Shot Of The Sapphire Ring From This Weekend

I posted this the other day when I found it. I got it sized tonight for my wife to wear...she likes it a lot, which is cool because aside from one killer diamond ring last summer, it seems the really nice diamond rings I find are mostly men's. And the best part is, the sapphires are the September birthstone and her birthday is Friday, so right on time.

I took it to the kiosk jewler in the Super K-Mart here. The place is called "Bands of Gold" and he does all kinds of jewelry repair, custom creations, sizings, cleanings, etc. For $20, he sized it and gave it a first class cleaning...ultrasonic, steam, polish...very nice.

Edited for typo corrections

Hey, Mike, you sure are a lucky guy. Think about it. Last year you scored that massive diamond ring (with 22 diamonds) for Sharon right before your 22nd wedding anniversary. This year, you scored a wonderful gold and sapphire ring right before her birthday, which happens to fall in September, with a sapphire birthstone. Now that's what they call serendipity. I think you should remind Sharon that your anniversary is coming in October and you need some extra beach time to find her that 23 diamond ring for this year's present.

God. Just think about how much money you've saved for presents with all these goodies you land. Lucky guy...

Thanks, man!

Yeah, I've been pretty lucky here...like most of us. Even when things are a little slow here, our beaches are better than most at producing the goods. There's round-the-clock traffic and replenishment going on down there all summer...you can't beat it.

The recycling is the best part for me. If it suits me, I keep it. My wife likes the ladies gold, my daughter the silver. The rest is in the collection, which I periodically take to work and have a number of ladies there that love to buy my stuff. I've actually sold quite a few pieces this summer. I always make them a great deal too. I usually say "Make me an offer" and either take it or tell them something even lower. I'm not talking anything REALLY nice here...average stuff...gold and silver and small diamonds or less precious gemstones. Still, the stuff I have sitting in collection outweighs all the above. For me, it's more about the thrill of the hunt than anything.

Mike, you're a son of a gun. what did Roger Miller say: "My pappy was a pistol I'm a son of a gun". Beautiful find and a great gift for your wife. Well, what about that used jewelry store your gonna open up??? Just kidding, just kidding. You're doin great just the way you are, heck your even selling stuff at work. That's a pretty cool way to go. Sounds like a win win to me. They get some beautiful jewelry at a good price and you make some extra cash and get to have other people enjoy your finds. :)
