Another Seated Quarter & 1/2 Real

After finding a seated half dollar and quarter on Saturday I couldn't wait to get back to this new spot on Sunday. It was certainly worth doing as I came up with an 1876-S Seated Quarter, a better date Indian cent of 1873 and a well worn 1/2 real. I spent close to 3 hours here on Sunday after only an hour on Saturday and after the first hour there wasn't much coming up. It was pretty much concentrated in one small area of maybe 50' x 50'. Rest of the area was very quiet. Interesting in that I found no clad coins. Obviously nobody has been going here for a long time.

Using a CTX 3030, but with the excepting of a very deep button I also found, I don' think any of the coins were deep enough to keep from being found by just about anything. If I still had my first BFO machine or my White's 6DBI probably would have found them. Same goes for the 2 real and 2 large cents I found the weekend before. It was just a matter of finding fresh unworked sites. A little homework mixed in with some luck goes a long way. To find a 2 real, 1/2 real, 3 large cents, 2 seated quarters, a seated half and a nice date Indian within 8 days at two different sites does require some luck. Total detecting time only came to about 10 hours.

Fantastic coins!

Enjoy it while it lasts ... some guys go their whole lives and never find stuff like that.

I know what you mean McDave. I've been TH'ing for 30 years and never had a time like the last two weeks. Two different sites = a 2 real, 1/2 real, 3 large cents, 2 seated quarters, seated half, better date Indian as well as a very old constable badge and pocket watch. Most of the coins were very nice coins to boot being VF or better.

I like your forensics of the site, what is also neet is that it appears that the real was still in circulation in the 1870,s and by the wear it must have been , looks like a undiscovered spot this is intresting , keep up the search nice finds
