Well....I had another good day with the T2SE on the same site I was on last week.....My buddy and I hunted for 4 hours on this 12 to 15 acre field...you folks saw the pictures of 1835 Seated half-dime I found, along with 1878 IH....If you follow any of the postings on the Safari Forum, my hunting buddy goes by the name of "Brookie" in that forum (check out his Civil War medal in that forum)...I hope I'm not stepping over the line by that suggestion because it is still a Findmall forum)....
Anyway, I was on the side of a slope and hadn't not found anything 3 hrs into the hunt (Brookie had already found a 3-ringer 58 cal.)..I got a good signal (no not "roundness") VDI 83-85 @ 6" deep, which turned out to be an 1899 barber dime in very good condition.....I yelled at Brookie, and he came running down the hill to see. His response went something like this, "I should have found that dime cause it matches the barber quarter I found last week--same date." "Least it wasn't another seated like you found last week"....He turned and went back up the hill...Not 2 feet away I get another signal 5" down with the same VDI reading---salivating now, I start to dig...It turned out to be another SEATED!!! It is worn very badly with no discerning date. Simply the outline of the seated liberty visible...BUT A SEATED NONETHELESS, and this time it's a dime!!!....At any rate, Brookie started down the hill using the appropriate language for such an occasion, and I yelled at him to "go back up the hill". Needless to say, he ignored me--which is what I would have done.
All-in-all, that's all we found yesterday, and I will provide some pictures..I have the coins in their cardboard covers, but the next hunt I will post pics before I clean-up the day's finds....I figure both coins fell out of the same pocket since there was nothing else to indicate any other activity on site...but the history of the area is very rich and old....It will take a long time to hunt this entire field but since 2 seated have been found there, I will have to continue to hunt it.
